Signs, Games, and Messages: Exploring Hidden Meanings in Music

This class will explore musical cryptograms, personal musical messages, and other secrets from composers that add meta-musical meaning to their works. Led by Daniel Anastasio, the class will explore musical messages in Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Liszt, Shostakovich, Schoenberg, Kurtag, George Crumb, and others.
